Concern about indoor exposure to mold has been increasing as the public becomes aware that exposure to mold can cause a variety of health effects and symptoms, including allergic reactions.

Mold can be found almost anywhere; it can grow on virtually any organic substance, as long as moisture and oxygen are present. There is mold that can grow on wood, paper, carpet, foods, and insulation. When excessive moisture accumulates in buildings or on building materials, mold growth will often occur, particularly if the moisture problem remains undiscovered or unaddressed.

In some cases, indoor mold growth may not be obvious. It is possible that mold may be growing on hidden surfaces, such as the backside of dry wall, wallpaper, or paneling, the top of ceiling tiles, the underside of carpets and pads, etc. Possible locations of hidden mold can include pipe chases and utility tunnels (with leaking or condensing pipes), walls behind furniture (where condensation forms), condensate drain pans inside air handling units, porous thermal or acoustic liners inside ductwork, or roof materials above ceiling tiles (due to roof leaks or insufficient insulation).

At Fire-Clean-up Services, our certified Mold Remediation team follow a comprehensive plan to restore the air quality of your home or office. Here are some of those steps:

  • Perform a site analysis to determine extent of mold contamination.
  • Develop a sensible project plan for clean-up and remediation.
  • Removal of all items including furniture from the infected area prior to setting up containment.
  • Seal off the work area by covering floor and door openings with polyethylene sheeting to prevent contaminants from spreading to the rest of the building.
  • Remove and sand growth areas on building materials such as drywall, plywood, insulation, framing etc.
  • Remove of damaged materials is executed under negative air pressure through HEPA filtration. Bag and dispose of waste.
  • Apply mold inhibiting chemicals to exposed surfaces prevents the re-growth of mold.
  • Provide reconstruction services. If moisture is present dehumidification systems are used until all exposed areas are dry. New materials can then be installed, restoring the area to its original, purified state.

Customer comments from a recent mold remediation job:

"Just wanted to let you know how pleased we were with the job your company performed. Your workers seemed to be well trained and with good work ethics.

As for the three guys that finished up here today; I can honestly say have never seen harder workers. They just seemed to go at it all day in that attic with no breaks to speak of. You company is fortunate to have a person such as Dave. If you ever hand out a bonus for a job well done, Dave should be the first one considered. Your lucky to have such a dedicated person on your payroll...

Again, thank you for a job well done and in an extremely professional manner."
